Adding fuel to the ongoing gender equality controversy among Muslim outfits, Muslim Educational Society (MES) State president Dr Fazal Gafoor on Sunday said Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyar was encouraging Sangh Parivar to beat Muslims.

Kanthapuram had said on Saturday that the calls for gender equality were aimed at destroying Islam. Being a progressive organisation MES can’t approve such statements and the Muslim outfits should be up in arms against Kanthapuram on such views. Not only Hindu fundamentalism but Muslim fundamentalism also prevents social development of the country. It is time for secular parties and progressive organisations to resist such undesirable trends, Gafoor said.

The MES chief also criticised media for not giving an ear to the liberal and nationalist Muslims version. While highlighting such controversial statements, the media ignores the version of progressive organisations like MES, he said.

Referring to the allegation that children have been abused at madrasas, Gafoor said the authorities of madrasas should depute an enquiry committee to find out the facts and address such issues.

Abused at Madrasa

Coming out heavily against Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyars statement that child abuses were not happening in madrasas, film director Ali Akbar on Sunday revealed he was also a victim of sexual abuse while studying at madrasa. Akbar said the Ustad who had sexually abused him was still alive.
