Mobile Money Transfer Service by BSNL and India Post
29 Nov 2012
Indian state-owned telecommunications provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) and India Post have launched a mobile money transfer service between Delhi and Kerala. The service enables immediate person-to-person money transfer through certain post offices, which will accept cash-in by the sender.
Using BSNL technology, the post office will then send a notice to the recipient’s mobile number, who can then go to the post office at their location to receive the funds. During the transaction the sender gets a secret code sent to their mobile phone which they have to provide to the recipient. The service will initially be available in Delhi, Kerala, Bihar, and Punjab circles and will be expanded to other postal circles in the future.
