Two women’s from Kerala to be awarded Jeevan Raksha Padak

The 2012 Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak will be conferred posthumously on three people — Ms Vineetha P.K., Ms. Remya Rajappan (both of Kerala) and Ms Sangeeta Agarwal of Uttarakhand.The President has approved the conferment of the Jeevan Raksha Padak Awards 2012 on 50 people for their meritorious acts of humane nature in saving lives of people.

The award is given in three categories — Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak, and Jeevan Raksha Padak. Persons of either sex in all walks of life are eligible for these awards. The award can also be conferred posthumously. The lump sum monetary allowance is given at the rate of 1,00,000, Rs.60,000, and Rs. 40,000 to the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and Jeevan Raksha Padak awardee, respectively
