Thousands of people who had to discontinue studies after Class X have a  reason to cheer. The Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority (KSLMA) has evolved a course equivalent to Plus-II, targeting the group.

The course, which the government has recognised as equivalent to certification by HSE, will also benefit those who have already completed the Literacy Mission’s Class X-equivalent, KSLMA director R Sasikumar said. Though there is no upper age limit, those who have passed SSLC from schools will be eligible for the Mission’s Plus II-equivalent course only after the age of 22.

Students who clear the course will be eligible for admission to degree courses and will also be eligible for promotion in jobs. However, Literacy Mission officials say there no clarity on whether the course will be treated on par with Plus-II in terms of eligibility criteria for jobs.
