8.7 Lakhs New Connections by KSEB
Kerala State Electricity Board will be giving 8.7lakhs new connection in the state under the State Government’s Mission 676 programme, Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammed said on Tuesday.
Of this, one lakh connections will be given before August 1 this year, he told a press conference here. The remaining connections will be given in instalments of 1.15 lakh to 1.35 lakh every 100 days for the rest of the mission period.
Total electrification works under the Centrally-funded Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutheekaran Yojana (RGGVY) will be completed in 11 districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode, by September 30.
In 10 towns, works under the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (RAPDRP), Part B, will be finished by August 1 this year, Aryadan said. In the power generation sector, the department expects to get the diesel power plant at Brahmapuram and part of the Rajiv Gandhi Combined Cycle Power Project (RGCCPP), Kayamkulam, converted into fuel-based stations.
