3 More Diseases under Karunya Benevolent Fund

As decided by Kerala Govt 3 more diseases will be added in the Karunya Benevolent Fund treatment scheme . Finance minister K M Mani said the additions to the list would be sickle cell disease commonly seen in Attappadi,mental healthcare and thalassemia. He also said that the govt is planning to expand the scheme further in the seminar organized by Kesari memorial trust and lottery department.
Under the scheme Rs 2 Lakh is being provided as financial aid to those undergoing surgeries ,necessary action has been taken to provide money if applications are submitted within 48 hours of the admission to the hospital.
Karunya Benevolent Fund treatment scheme launched in 2012 thus far Kerala Govt have spent about Rs 110 Crore to the aid of 10,307 people from the economically weaker section . Resedential facility will be also provided soon in leading hospitals at free of cost to patients .
