17 Plants in State to Provide Clean Drinking Water

Kerala is set to install 17 water treatment plants in the coastal region to provide affordable potable water to the people, an official said Tuesday.

Ashok Singh, managing director of Kerala Water Authority (KWA), said the people living in the coastal areas are the worst affected when it comes to availability of potable water. 20 litres of good potable water at a cost of one rupee .

“Each of these treatment plants would be installed by the state government and would cost two million rupees each. In an hour these plants can process around 5000 to 10,000 litres of water,” said Mr Singh.
