The state committee of the Kerala Criminal Judicial Staff Association (KCJSA), has asked the government to create 784 additional clerical posts in Magistrate courts. The committee, which met in Kochi on Monday welcomed the government decision to create 224 new posts in the Magistrate Courts.
A KCJSA press release said the High Court Registrar had proposed creation of 1,559 posts in civil courts and 784 posts in criminal courts based on a study report in 1993. The proposal was examined in detail but was not approved by the government because of financial constraints.
The Kerala Criminal Judicial Staff Association and the Kerala Civil Judicial Staff Organization approached the HC for getting the recommendations in the study report implemented and won a favorable verdict. The recent decision to create 224 clerical posts came after High Court Chief Justice Manjula Chellur held a discussion with the Chief Minister in January.
