Many areas of Kuttanad Submerged Due to Monsoon

Due to continuous rainfall in Pathanamthitta District have submerged many parts of Upper Kuttanad and affected normal life in this low-lying area. Flood waters entered many settlement colonies in the Upper Kuttanad villages of Peringara and Nedumpram. Local people taking their children and other family members in small country boats along the flooded rural roads and across the inundated paddy fields, braving rain, has become a common scene in Upper Kuttanad.
The situation is worse at Alamthuruthy, Mepral, Niranom, Nedumpram, Azhiyidathuchira, Amichakari, Kallumkal, and Venpala-West.
Vehicular traffic was also affected on the Mepral-Azhiyidathuchira Road, Amichakari Road, Niranam Duck Farm Road, Kadapra-Theveri Road, and so on with the flood waters submerging these roads along many stretches.
