HC Asked CBI Not to Spare Any In Human Trafficking Case
15 July 2013
Kochi
Taking a serious view of human trafficking racket allegedly involving immigration and police personnel, Kerala High Court Monday directed CBI to conduct a thorough probe into the case and not spare any accused, irrespective of their rank.
The direction was issued by Justice S S Sateeshchandran while dismissing the bail applications of Raju Mathew, suspended Sub-Inspector of Immigration wing of the airport here and Niyaz, a travel agent. The state government had recently suspended five senior officers, including two superintendents of police in connection with the case.
Justice Sateeschandran said CBI was awaiting notification to take over the investigation of the crime. Director General of Prosecution T Asaf Ali had earlier submitted that a detailed probe needed to be conducted to find out whether those who had gone abroad illegally through the Kochi airport had links with any terrorist outfit.
