R Sankar Statue to Be Unveiled by Sonia Gandhi

The statue of R Sankar, the first Congress Chief Minister of Kerala, installed at Palayam (near War Memorial) here will be unveiled by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday.
The bronze statue of R Sankar, who was the third Chief Minister of the state, is installed by the R Sankar Foundation of Kerala.
R Sankar Foundation president R Sarathchandra Prasad said that the statue of Sankar was taken to the state capital in a procession from the premises of Gokarna temple at Kudroli in Karnataka and was accorded warm reception all over the state.
He said on Thursday, which marks the completion of 51 years of Sankar becoming the Chief Minister of Kerala, a seminar on ‘R Sankar and Kerala politics’ would be held at Symphony Hall.
Speaker G Karthikeyan will inaugurate the seminar. KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala will preside over the seminar in which Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan, will deliver the key-note address.
