KMRL Joins Hand with Indian Green Building Council

Joining hands with the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd, one of the country’s most ambitious eco-friendly projects, the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) is all set to hold a Kochi Metro Greenathon on October 6 to promote the concept.
A cycle rally will be flagged off from Aluva to Petta, the first and the last Metro stations of the Kochi Metro at 7 am on Sunday.Meanwhile, hundreds of participants will take part in the walkathon to be organised as part of the event from the Durbar Hall ground to Edappally.
The rallies will touch various Metro station routes in the city and culminate at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at 8.30 pm.
“The IGBC conducts such events every year as part of the World Green Week Celebrations. Since the Kochi Metro is the latest metro in the country, we decided to join hands with the KMRL for the purpose. Ministers, MLAs and celebrities will participate in the event. Various organisations, including the Indian Navy and Cochin Bikers Club will also take part in the cycle rally,” B R Ajit, chairman, IGBC, said.
Organisations like the Rotary International, Lions Club international, CII, Young India, Indian Institute of Architects, Indian Institute of Interior Designers, Kerala Management Association, CBSE School Association, EDRAAC, BAI, Kerala Chamber of Commerce are also associating with the Greenathon.
