Kerala Labour Minister Shibu Baby John has called upon employers to use the services of employability centres to meet their talent needs. Over the last quarter, he said, more than 300 jobs have been generated through these centres, which is an initiative of the government to ensure that candidates from the State get counselled and trained for jobs.

The Minister was inaugurating a conference ‘Talent from Kerala: Aspirations and Opportunities’ here organised by Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE) along with FICCI and TMI Group, a HR service company.

According to him, the State government is committed to meet the expectations of the Kerala talent trough various initiatives and the employability centres are effective solutions to overcome talent crunch faced by the industry. These centres are set up under the PPP initiative of KASE and TMI Group.

Prasanth N, Managing Director, KASE, explained the initiatives taken by the academy for both employer and well as job seekers to ensure that the skill gaps are bridged.

As part of the national skill development policy, which envisages imparting skills to 500 youths by 2022, the State government has taken the initiative to set up KASE for focussed and specialised skill development programme.
