Major General A K Singh on Sunday took charge as General Officer Commanding (GOC), Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area, from Major General K S Venugopal, who retired after 37 years of service in the Army. Singh was earlier Deputy Director General (Staff Duty) at the Army headquarters. He was awarded the Vishisht Seva medal for his contribution and devotion to duty while in command of an infantry battalion.

On the occasion, Major General Singh said he would focus on the welfare of his troops and their families. “I want to focus on upgrading the quality of life of my men and their families.
