Bihar Top in e-Governance Kerala Position Falls

Bihar has become the number one state in issuing different types of certificates including birth certificates and caste certificates, thanks to the introduction of e-governance in the state.

Addressing a workshop on National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) at Wheeler Senate House here on Friday, Beltron managing director Atul Sinha said that leaving Kerala much behind, Bihar has become the leading service provider. The state has been rendering commendable service, especially in rural areas, through e-governance, he said.

Union ministry of communication and information technology additional secretary Rajiv Gauba said the infrastructure created at district level for e-governance was being utilized properly for providing services to the people. He said that NeGP would collaborate with the universities for research and development on betterment of e-governance.

A panel discussion on ‘Opportunities of National e-Governance Plan’ was also held on the occasion. PU pro-VC Sudipta Adhikari presided.
