Drainage Work in City Waiting for ADB Approval

The Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project (KSUDP) director on Friday submitted before the Kerala High Court that once it received approval from the ADB for updated initial environmental clearance the drain works at Panampilly Nagar would be commenced.
KSUDP made the submission on a contempt petition filed by Peter Augustine, resident in the area. According to him, Kochi corporation had not taken any steps to implement the High Court order. The court had directed the corporation to complete drain construction project using round pipes. The drain would prevent flooding in Perumanoor, Ravipuram, Panampilly Nagar areas.
In an affidavit, KSUDP project director K V Mohankumar stated that earnest efforts were being taken to construct the drain. It was expected to be completed by the end of October. The project for the drain was implemented with the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank.
