Kerala state Labour department has drawn out a plan to turn employment exchanges into employability centres by introducing the proposed Additional Skill Enhancement Programme (ASEP). Labour Minister Shibu Baby John said that centres were being established to change the face of existing employment exchanges meant for registering the names of the unemployed youth to skill development centres.
The youth would be equipped to get employment from these centres after undergoing psychometric test to find out their abilities and limitations. The centres would be started in all employment exchanges in the state in a phased manner after its introduction in Ernakulam, Kollam and Kozhikode districts, the minister said.
