Flood Relief Camps For Disaster Management

District Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareed said 76 relief camps were opened in different taluks as part of the disaster management efforts.Revenue offices will function on Tuesday, despite being a holiday, to ensure support to the relief camps and flood-affected areas. Instructions had been issued to open disaster management cells at Collectorate as well as village and taluk offices, he said.

B. Ramachandran, Additional District Magistrate, will coordinate the relief works. Crop destructions have been reported from 367.7 hectares till now, amounting to a loss of Rs. 14.74 crore. During the rains, 541 houses were damaged, 22 of them fully and the rest partially.

Twenty-six camps have been opened in Paravur taluk, 18 in Aluva, 17 in Kothamangalam, eight in Muvattupuzha, five in Kunnathunadu and two in Kanayannur. Those residing along the banks of Muvattupuzha River and the Periyar hould remain alert, Mr. Ramachandran said.
