Huge Quantity of Explosives Seized Tamil Nadu-Kerala state border

The Tamil Nadu-Kerala state border was tense on Sunday following the seizure of five tonnes of ammonium nitrate from a mini lorry at the Kerala check-post after Walayar, about 35 km from Kovai, on Saturday evening.The driver of the vehicle, Abdul Kareem, 40, a native of Mallappuram in Kerala, has been arrested, said sources.
The seizure was made during routine checking and the consignment was being transported without proper documents to Kerala. As many as 100 bags containing a total quantity of five tonnes of ammonium nitrate was found in the mini lorry,said the Kerala police, who made the seizure.
Police officials were clueless how the vehicle, which was coming from Chennai, had escaped several check posts en route at a time when there was a nation-wide alert following the recent blasts in Hyderabad’s Dilsukh Nagar.
