Human Trafficking Case 9 Cops Suspended

The crime branch wing of the Kerala police have found the involvement of 17 police officials, including two officers of the rank of superintendents of police (SP), in the Nedumbaserry human trafficking case.The agency, which investigated the case, listed the names of the officials, who included four deputy superintendents of police, in their investigation report submitted to Director-General of Police here on Friday.
The involvement of these officials were confirmed in the probe based on the statements given by sub inspector Raju Mathew and constable Ajeeb, who were arrested earlier. The crime branch investigation also found two officers linked with the sex racket run by Lissy Sojan.
The Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau (VACB) has also gone into the wealth of the main accused in the case and has recommended a detailed investigation against 19 officials, who included SPs, DySPs and circle inspectors. The VACB has found major irregularities in the financial assets of most of these officials. It found that these officers had made money unaccountable for by investing it in real estate in other people’s names.
