Kerala an Easy target for Cyber Crimes

Kochi ranks 7th among Indian cities with bot-infected computers that face several cyber risks due to the growing broadband population. Thiruvananthapuram is also on the list and these two cities are now soft targets of cyber criminals, Anand Naik, Managing Director (Sales), India and SAARC, Symantec, a global leader in security, availability and back-up solutions, said.
The Internet Security Threat Report prepared by Symantec also revealed that small and medium businesses located in IT parks in the State face 50 per cent of the targeted cyber attacks. He also quoted National Crime Records Bureau reports saying that Kerala ranks third in cyber crime in India with 10,542 cases reported from Kochi alone in 2011.
Focusing on the SMB community in Kerala, Symantec has come out with several measures to help firms to protect themselves from information risks.
