Kerala Assembly Paid tribute to PM I K Gujral

The Kerala Assembly was on Monday adjourned after paying tributes to former Prime Minister I K Gujral, who died at a hospital in Gurgaon on November 30. Moving a reference motion on the opening day of the session on Monday, Speaker G Karthikeyan said the life of Gujral was a model for others to follow. Gujral was a person who upheld country’s principles of securalism, the Speaker said.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said Gujral was a multifaceted personality and his contribution to the nation would be remembered for ever. Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan said Gujral’s foreign policy was unique and his contribution to the nation was outstanding.
Leaders of various other political parties also paid tributes to Gujral and the House stood in silence for two minutes as a mark of respect to the former Prime Minister before adjourning for the day.
