Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the media after the weekly Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday that each police district would have a cyber police cell. The Cabinet had sanctioned 133 posts for the cells (seven for each cell). The Kerala Cabinet has decided to establish 19 cyber police cells in the State in view of the increasing number of cyber crimes in the State.
The Chief Minister said the Cabinet had decided to create 356 supernumerary posts for making pending appointments under the dying in harness scheme. This would not involve any additional expenditure for the government as it had already decided to pay salaries equal to that drawn by the dead person to his family if the appointment was delayed, despite the family having an eligible person.
He recalled that the government had given appointments to 549 persons under the scheme in May last year by creating supernumerary posts since postings, otherwise, took years.
Mr. Chandy announced that the Cabinet had also sanctioned 758 posts for the 12 newly formed taluks. Out of these, 102 posts would be filled through redeployment.
