Kerala State Transport Project second phase is aided by the World Bank and after so many hurdles of land acquisition and contractual issues is now launched. The project is aimed to develop 363 km of State highways to global standards.
"KSTP has helped in raising the State’s development quotient. There were much skepticism voiced about Phase I of the project when it was launched. The substantial completion of Phase I works and the commencing of Phase II is an answer to all these criticisms,’’ Thiruvanchoor said.
‘’The work of six roads will be taken up in the second phase at a cost of Rs 2,403 crore. Of this, the work on three roads have already begun including the construction of a bypass at Tiruvalla. The authorities were keen on covering all the aspects before commencing the work including an environmental impact assessment. KSTP is a dream project and phase two will be completed by 2018,’’ Works Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju said.
