Kerala To ask for Water Release from TN

Kerala will ask Tamil Nadu to release its due share of water to Chittoorpuzha Irrigation project in Palakkad under Parambikulam-Aliyar river Pact (PAP), Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the State Assembly here today.
Replying to a submission moved by V Chenthamarakshan of CPI (M) in this regard, the Chief Minister said crops on hundreds of hectares was facing severe drought due to lack of water as Tamil Nadu reduced water supply to Kerala due to failure of north-east monsoon. Water Resource Minister P J Joseph said he wrote a letter in this regard to Tamil Nadu seeking the release of 1750 million cubic feet water between December 16, 2012 and January 31, 2013.
