The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has hiked the ticket rates of its AC, non-AC JNNURM buses and superfast services from Sunday midnight.
The minimum charge for a ticket in an AC bus has been revised to Rs 15 from Rs 10, while the minimum charge per ticket in a non-AC bus has been fixed at Rs 8. The earlier rate was Rs 5/ticket. The KSRTC will charge Rs 1.50 for every kilometre after the initial 5km, said authorities.

At the same time, the maximum travelling distance at minimum charge in Super Express buses has been reduced from 15km to 10km. The minimum charge of Super Deluxe buses has been increased to Rs 25 from Rs 20, while the minimum charge of the hi-tech AC bus has been increased from Rs 27 to Rs 35.

Sources from the KSRTC administration said the government agreed to the proposal submitted a few months ago to hike the charges.
