KSEB Offices Goes Green

Thiruvananthapuram
Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has stopped printing of board orders and circulars from July 1. According to KSEB chairman M Sivasankar, the current practice of printing all orders and circulars issued by the board for circulation among officials has finally come to a halt by June-end.
The board prints thousands of copies of orders and circulars on regular intervals. “For example, if an order or circular has to reach every section office under the distribution wing alone, at least 1,000 copies have to be printed. The number of section offices itself is 729 now. When it comes to printing power bills, KSEB prints over one crore bills every two months”, said a top official in the board.
As part of rolling out the Centre-sponsored Re-structured Accelerated Power Development and Reform Programme (R-APDRP), the board plans to provide its consumers options to receive their electricity bills, either on mobile phones or on e-mail or both.
