KSEB Regulatory Commission to Revise Tariff for Bulk Consumers

The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission will soon issue orders revising the power tariffs for the Kerala State Electricity Board’s (KSEB) bulk supply consumers. Bulk consumers are those who purchase power from the KSEB and distribute it in designated areas. They include the Thrissur municipality, Kannan Devan, KINFRA, Technopark and the Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ).
“The tariff revision will be announced separately as the petitions on the Aggregate Revenue Requirement and Expected Revenue from Charges (ARR and ERC) have not been finalised yet. Once finalised, the orders will be issued with retrospective effect from May 1,” a commission official said.
The KSEB had proposed a uniform increase of 17 per cent in the tariffs for the bulk consumers in 2013-14. “Since the Board has proposed 15 to 20 per cent increase in retail supply tariff, 17 per cent uniform increase in BST was proposed for 2013-14. The commission has revised the Retail Supply Tariff for 2013-14 and the same is applicable to the consumers of all licensees,” the commission said in its order on retail supply.
On Tuesday, the commission issued orders to hike the tariff for domestic category by 9.7 per cent, for the small industries by 8.4 per cent and large industries by 9.4 per cent.
