Urban Development Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali has said a two-day investors’ meet would be held here on January 13 and 14 to attract investment for infrastructure development projects under corporations. The Minister was inaugurating a laser show facility set up by the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) at Rajendra Maidan here on Tuesday.
“Corporations and development authorities are formulating mega projects. The aim of organising investors’ meet is aimed at mobilising funds for such projects with the involvement of private parties. The plan is to mobilise `2,000 crore. Investors, including NRIs, have expressed interest in the meet,” he said.
“The laser show facility, which aimed at attracting tourists, will start generating profit within two years. A `70-crore aquarium and `65-crore cable car are the other two major tourism projects to be implemented in Kochi. The laser show facility will start functioning in just six months,” the minister said. He pointed out that 68 per cent of population of Ernakulam district resides in the urban area.
“This has prompted the government to attract private investment to complete infrastructure projects,” Ali said.
