Monsoon Rain in Kerala Started

Monsoon in Kerala is expected in next 48 hours , while many places in Kerala is experiencing regular rain already and it is expected that within coming sunday the rain will be heavier as the monsoon has arrived at the gate of Kerala after long interval. According to Mahesh Palawat, head of forecasting at Skymet weather, “Light to moderate rain at many places will continue during the next 48 hours. One or two places in Kerala could get heavy rain during the next two days.”

Heavy rain in excess of 70mm is expected at isolated places on the coastline. Thereafter, it will increase and cover the entire state. Moist westerly winds will be speeding up to 45-55kmph in the southern state. Rain will also continue over east India in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim.

Coastal Karnataka will also get rain in the next 2-3 days. Mangalore will also receive moderate showers. The city has already received more than 20mm rain in the last 24 hours. Rain will also increase in Konkan and Goa and over south Maharashtra from Sunday onwards.

However, the depression over West Bengal will move to the north-eastern states after the next 24 hours. This weather system will increase rainfall in the north-eastern states and many places will receive rain.
