The Public Service Commission (PSC) will set up online examination centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kozhikode, PSC Chairman K.S. Radhakrishnan has said.
Dr. Radhakrishnan told reporters here on Monday that the centres would be equipped with 200 computers and would be functional in six months.
The commission conducted about 375 examinations a year. By switching over to online system for posts which had Plus Two and above as the basic qualification, the conduct of examination would be easier, he said.
The commission was keen on adopting the latest changes in the examination system and had deputed a three-member team of commission Members comprising U. Suresh Kumar, L. Selvaraj, and P. Mohandas to study the system in vogue in centres which had adopted the online system.
The Rajasthan PSC was the only one which had adopted the system. On getting the report of the committee in February, the commission formed a monitoring committee with Member P. Jameela and officials to expedite the process. Once the formation of a question bank was completed in the second phase, the commission would be able to clear almost all hassles in the conduct of the examinations. The commission planned to improve the efficiency of the examination system by incorporating such changes.
The rank list for selecting sub-inspectors would be approved on September 12.
The Deputy Collector rank list would be released in October. The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation was bound to appoint all candidates who had been selected by the commission against the vacancies reported, he said.
