Protest in Cochin Naval Base

The Cochin Naval Base Civilian Workers Union, affiliated to the All-India Defense Employees’ Federation, recently held a protest march in front of Cochin naval base demanding better hospital and medical facilities.
“Even though employees are given access to treatment in Central Government-approved hospitals, we are not given proper reimbursements here. Naval base civilian workers receive proper benefits in other states with the Navy directly intervening in the treatment of its employees,” said union secretary K K Balachandran.
CPM Ernakulam district secretary C M Dinesh Mani, Cochin Naval Base Civilian Workers Union general secretary M Anilkumar, AIDEF national joint secretary K Balakrishnan, Confederation Of Central Government Employees’ district secretary P G Saseendharan, AITUC district vice-president John Lukose and AIDEF national executive member K Jayachandran Nair were also present.
