South Kerala Again Hit by Northeast Monsoon

Northeast Monsoon again hit south Kerala till Wednesday morning and the meteorological center has forecast rain and thunderstorms in many parts of Kerala for next two days more.
Isolated places in the State will receive heavy rainfall exceeding 7 cm on the gauge on Thursday and Friday, the Thiruvananthapuram Meteorological Centre said in its bulletin on Wednesday.A depression formed over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal early in the morning on Wednesday and the system lay centred over a location some 650 km east-southeast of Chennai at 8.30 a.m.
It would cross Tamil Nadu coast between Nagapattinam and Chennai by Friday night or Saturday morning, the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre said in a bulletin.A cyclonic circulation too was persisting over Lakshadweep and neighbourhood at lower levels of the atmosphere on Wednesday.
During the 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday, heavy rainfall occurred in Thiruvananthapuram and Aryankavu (9 cm each); Nedumangad, Neyyattinkara, Kayamkulam, and Piravom (8 cm each) and Chengannur and Kurudamannil (7 cm each).
