Special Package For New Life in Attapadi By State Govt

In context of Recent Deaths of Infants due to Malnutrition the state government has come up with a special package for the region.Setting up of a new tribal development agency in place of the now defunct Attappadi Hill Areas Development Society (AHADS), speedy implementation of development packages and steps to strengthen the health and social infrastructure in the area are the highlights of the package.
An agency called AHADS-CCPRM (Centre for Comprehensive & Participatory Resource Management) will replace AHADS which played a vital role in the development of tribal people.“Even after the term of AHADS project expired, we got many extensions for the project from the Centre,” Chandy said, and added that 99 former tribal employees of AHADS will be inducted as tribal watchmen by the Forest Department or will be posted as Home Guards.
Enumerating the initiatives of the Health Ministry, Minister V S Sivakumar said, a total of 75 medical staff will be deployed in Attappadi – 38 in Kottathara Tribal Superspecialty Hospital, 23 in Community Health Centre, Agali, and 14 in Primary Health Centre, Puthu, where an In-Patient Centre will be set up. Drinking water projects would be set up in hospitals at a cost of `28 lakh.
The government will also set up a malnutrition rehabilitation centre and a de-addiction centre, he said.
