The State-owned Oushadhi, manufacturers of ayurvedic medicines, is eyeing a sales turnover of Rs 200 crore by 2015. Registered with name Pharmaceutical Corporation (Indian Medicines) Kerala Ltd, clocked a Rs 66 crore sales revenue in 2012-13 compared with Rs 43 crore in the previous year.
The achievement in sales promises a brighter future and the company is now going ahead with its plan to modernise its 30 bed Pancha Karma facility at Thrissur by making it a 100-bed facility in two years, Johnny Nelloor, chairman of the Thrissur-headquartered Oushadhi, said. “The government has approved our Rs 20-crore plan for the expansion of the centre with a research institute as well. It will be partly commissioned in mid-2014. There will be suites and facilities to cook ayurvedic diet,” he added.
A recent rise in demand of certain ayurvedic medicines has prompted Oushadhi’s centre for excellence to increase its production of the famed Arishtam and Asavam three-fold by coming August.
