Tata Docomo announces 3G network expansion plans in Kerala
Tata DoCoMo is scaling up its network across Kerala with additional 300 + towers as part of its 3G network expansion plan by covering all major towns and district headquarters.
Ashok Ghose, MBU Head, Karnataka and Kerala Circles, Tata Teleservices Ltd said that 109 new towers have been added in this fiscal across Chavakkad, Changanassery, Cherthala, Kannur, Kasaragod, Palakkad, Thalassery and Varkala. Besides another 200 + new 3G Towers are in pipeline for this quarter. With this, he said the company will be one of the fastest growing 3G network providers in the State.
The company, he said, has launched an innovative data pack which offers 1GB high speed 3G data, at an economical price of Rs 189. The offer is applicable only in newly launched 3G towns.
In addition to the current expansion plans, the company has also spruced up its distribution channel by adding 128 distributors and 17,000 retail touch points and 50 advanced branded retail stores.
The growing popularity and penetration of smart phones has led to a burgeoning demand for high speed data services, he added.
