A.V. George VC of MG University Kerala Dismissed For False Biodata
A.V. George the vice chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University was today sacked by Governor Sheila Dixit the former Chief Minister of Delhi who is also the chancellor of the University. The dismissal order was handed over to Dr. George at the Raj Bhavan in the morning. With this, he becomes the first Vice-Chancellor in Kerala to be so removed by the Chancellor.
According to Raj Bhavan sources, Dr. George went to the Governor’s official residence with a letter of resignation which Raj Bhavan officials refused to accept. Some time later, he was handed the dismissal order.
Dr. George also submitted a signed form acknowledging the receipt of the Governor’s order, officials said. On December 21 last, the then Governor, Nikhil Kumar, had issued a show-cause notice to Dr. George on a case accusing the latter of misrepresenting his qualifications in the curriculum vitae (CV) he presented to the government to be considered as a candidate for the post of Vice-Chancellor.
