Kerala Getting hot as mercury is keep on rising

The mercury has been soaring in Kerala with the maximum temperature touching 41 degrees Celsius in Palghat district, close to its highest ever recorded temperature of 41.7 degrees in 1987.Labour Minister Shibhu Baby John announced the relief during a debate in the state assembly on Wednesday on the miseries caused by the drought to the people. The working hour regulation will have immediate effect, he added.

Rural Development Minister K C Joseph extended the relief to the workers under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) too.Three traffic police personnel at Adoor in Pathanamthitta and two fishermen in Quilon were hit by the sunstroke on Wednesday.  The government also offered free treatment to all those who have suffered sunstroke, which hit a total of 13 people in the last three days.

The Kerala government has allowed outdoor workers midday break for three hours from 12 noon to 3pm to protect them from the searing heat wave sweeping the state.
