The Kerala Tourism Department has introduced strict safety measures at Adyanpara Waterfalls, a major picnic spot in Malappuram, Kerala. In the backdrop of some accidental deaths that occurred at the tourist spot last year, the Department has decided to control the entry of visitors to the danger zones of the waterfalls.
Ummar Koya, Secretary, District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), said, “Last year, several deaths, including that of students, were reported from the region. Most of the incidents happened when the visitors ignored the warnings given by tourism officials.
Volunteers and lifeguards will be appointed this year to restrict the entry of visitors into danger zones, besides checking the consumption of liquor near the waterfalls.
