Kerala Tourism Affected by Heavy Monsoon in the State

Monsoon Heavy rain have adversely affected the State tourism as it has brought with it so many illness which have decreased the tourist flow in the state. Tourism industry sources said that the number of foreign and domestic tourists arriving in the state has fallen and this may be the worst season for the monsoon tourism. This is happening despite several hotels offering good discounts to woo tourists.
“The tourist inflow into the state for monsoon tourism is extremely dull. It is actually worse than what we had expected,” said Kerala Travel Mart patron, P D Joseph.Explaining the drop in hotel bookings by Arab tourists this monsoon, Ramada Resort, Kochi, general manager Suresh Kumar said, “This year Ramadan month begins on July 8. During Ramadan, tourists from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, who are our major tourists to the state, do not travel”.
With business during the peak season time in the months of November and December being poor, several hotels offered huge discounts on hotel rates to woo tourists during monsoon. Discount offered by hotels include up to 60% discount on room rates for a seven-night stay in the hotel and get one night free stay at any of the hotel’s branch in the state or 20% discount on drinks and food or free stay for spouse and two kids below the age of six.
