Kerala Police have decided to set up virtual kill houses (automated commando training system) in Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur where personnel of commando wing and Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) will be tested on their ability to react to a real-life hostage rescue and anti-terrorist operations.
According to officials, the facilities will enhance the weapon handling and firing skills of security personnel. The software-based system has pre-programmed and user-defined exercises with different terrain backdrops, environmental conditions and ranges. It enables practice on a variety of small arms, including revolvers, 9mm pistols, 303 rifles, INSAS, AK-47s, carbines and light machine guns.
