Chicken Outlets in Kochi- Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation

Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation (Kepco) is planning to open chicken outlets in the city. The decision in this regard was by agriculture minister K P Mohanan.As a first step, Kepco has invited applications from poultry farmers in the district to raise chicken for its proposed outlets in the city. The number of outlets will be decided after reviewing the response of farmers. It has also called a meeting of poultry farmers in Thiruvananthapuram to discuss the matter next week.
Kepco has hatcheries at Mala in Thrissur, Kottiyam in Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram. The corporation, which is now in the process of expanding its hatchery and feed producing unit at Mala, feels that chicks can be supplied to farmers in the district after the completion of expansion.
