The Kerala State Electricity Board has introduced another set of fuel surcharge on consumers of all categories from January 1.Like in the previous terms, the surcharge is not applicable to those domestic consumers who use less than 20 units of power a month or whose connected load is less than or equal to 500W.
The board had originally sought the commission’s permission to collect fuel surcharge of Rs 72 crore. However, after considering various factors, the commission approved the collection of only Rs 51.84 from the consumers. All the section offices shall keep the account of the surcharge separately for each tariff category. Deputy chief engineers concerned shall compile and communicate the same to the tariff & regulatory affairs cell (TRAC), on monthly basis on or before 20th of the succeeding month.
For the speedy and smooth implementation of the KSERC order, the board further ordered that the special officer revenue (SOR) and all the distribution field offices shall collect the fuel surcharge of 10 paise /unit in addition to the existing charges from all the ‘monthly billed consumers’ for the consumption from January-2013 onwards.
