Kerala Agriculture University to get one-time grant of Rs 100 crore By Centre

Kerala Agriculture University is the only state in the Kerala that was included in Last years budget in education sector to promote the excellence in education and research.The Centre will at last release a one-time grant of Rs 100 crore allocated for the Kerala Agricultural University announced in the previous budget.
“A sum of Rs 22 crore would be released this year and Rs 64 crore would be released in the next fiscal. The balance would be given after that,” said Vice-Chancellor P Rajendran.The funds allotted by the Centre are for specific projects and to implement them, support from the state is required. The varsity is going through a financial crisis and is running on a deficit. “The varsity is facing a deficit of around `92 crore,” said the VC.
