Kerala State Transport Project to Get Loan from World bank

Department of Economic Affairs has signed an agreement with the World Bank to make available Rs 1,166 crore for the second phase of the Kerala State Transport Project (KSTP). The second phase aims to develop 367 km of State highways spread over eight corridors to international standards at a cost of Rs 2,403 crore.
The State budget for 2013-14 presented on Friday has allocated Rs 280 crore for the second phase of KSTP. According to Minister for Public Works V.K. Ebrahim Kunju, road development works would now a get fresh impetus and would be completed in a time-bound manner.
Bids for three sections – Kasaragod-Kanhangad (27.76 km); Pilathara-Pappinissery (20.90 km); and Thalasery- Valavupara (53.12 km) – have been tendered already.
