Kerala To Get Rs 50 Crore For Health Sector By Center

Kerala Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said that the Centre has promised to make available Rs 50 crore for the State under the National Urban Health Mission. The Minister had held talks in New Delhi in this regard with Keshav Desiraju, Secretary, Union Ministry of Health.

It was agreed that the State submit a project of an equivalent amount with a focus on better service delivery and human resources development. This will be done within a week’s time, the minister said.

In the first phase, work envisaged under the project will be taken in five municipal corporations and six municipalities.

A separate Rs 24.8-crore programme had been proposed for improving health infrastructure in the State and a memorandum submitted to Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Sivakumar added.
