Kerala Tribal Belt gets Aid From Center

Rising Deaths in Attapady area of Kerala have shocked the state and health departments of the State on which Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh has announced a government assistance of Rs 125 crore for Kerala’s tribal belt Attappady, where 28 newborn babies born to anemic mothers died this year.
Ramesh was accompanied by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and his five Cabinet colleagues on a tour of the area on June 6.
Identifying the loss of livelihood as the main cause of malnutrition and poverty, Ramesh has asked the state government to show guts to wrest back the alienated tribal land.
