A system for regular supervision and sealing of calibration units at Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) fuel pumps in the State is now in place. Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash inaugurated the facility at the Priyadarshini Planetarium Hall here on Thursday.

The Minister said Kerala was the fifth State in the country to implement the supervisory mechanism. The use of LPG in more vehicles would reduce carbon dioxide emissions and thus, pollution, he said. The government would maintain a strict vigil to ensure that customers were provided the right amount of fuel for the price they were paying.

Vehicle-owners who used LPG fuel had been raising complaints about the lack of a checking system, K. Muraleedharan, MLA, said. A demonstration of the verification process was also given at the inaugural function. The government has allotted Rs.10 lakh for the project’s implementation.
