Monorail Project in the State to Start Soon
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told that the Monorail project of Thiruvananthapuram and Khozikode will be started from 1st November of this year. He also announced that the construction of the Vizhinjam International Port on June 18 while the construction of Kannur airport terminal will begin on June 30.
The Chief Minister was announcing ‘Mission 676’, aimed at completion of ongoing development and welfare schemes and major infrastructure works within the stipulated time. The United Democratic Front government had come into power in three years ago and the objective of ‘Mission 676’ is to complete all pending works by the remaining 676 days while it is in power.
The state government wants to fulfill its nine dream projects, which have been collectively termed as the Navarathna schemes. The ministers concerned has been endowed with the responsibility to assure the timely completion of these projects under the supervision of the Chief Minister.
Kochi Metro- Decisions regarding land-related issues and technicalities have been taken. 761 days have been allotted for completion. Trains are expected to run from December 31, 2015.
