MUV’S to be introduced in Cochin Police

Cochi Police will have now multi-utility vehicles (MUVs) to improve the overall efficiency of the force. It is stated that the department would be introducing 20 new Taveras for patrolling and policing activities in the city. All theses vehicles will be fitted with modern gadget to help police force like GPS , smart vehicle tracking systems (SVTS) .
IG K Padmakumar of Cochin City told that these vehicles will soon be launched for the police force . In first phase 9 vehicle will be introduced and remaining will be implemented in different phases . These vehicles are being modified with certain additional fittings at Thiruvananthapuram.Each refitted vehicle would cost about Rs 7.5 lakh.
The fleet will help in efforts to improve the response time to five minutes from the current 15 to 20 minutes taken by the police to reach a crime spot.The control room on an average receives 1,000 calls per day. The new MUV’s will cover 24 police station including 2 traffic police stations in Cochin .
